Markers

My only real form of medium at the moment is graphite, ink and markers. Even though they're all very good for different things, I would like to move to graphic design. I think it will make my art work come out a lot better than how it is on pencil and paper.
So my dad is looking at prices for photoshop/illustrator packages. Hopefully I'll have that by early next year. :) Luckily, until then I can work on photoshop at school. We have brand new macintosh computers with photoshop cs3 on it, and full access to these computers before and after school and during my lunch hour.


If anyone reads this, could you give me some pointers on not only marker use, but whether or not photoshop is easy to delve in to?

I've taken art class for 6 years now in highschool, and recently have taken it back up in my free time. My art teacher says I have great potential and ideas, however I need to find more discipline in myself. So, new DA will hopefully be a good place to record my progress.
